The fourth step in the Workforce Planning model is to develop and implement Gap-Closing Strategies.

 

Gap-Closing Strategies help an agency "close the gap" between the workforce it currently has and the one it needs to meet it's operational goals.

 

Gap-Closing Strategies are directed at solving the problem of finding and keeping the right mix of staff with the right competencies.

 

There are a wide range of strategies that agencies may use - we recommend using a Competency Model as the foundation for developing Gap-Closing Strategies.
