The third Workforce Planning step is to conduct a Gap Analysis (PDF file) - analyze the data collected in the Environmental Scan and generated by the Supply and Demand Analysis.

 

A Gap Analysis:

  • Identifies the differences between the workforce an agency has currently and the workforce it will need in the future, based on it's operational goals.
  • Will reveal gaps in competencies and staffing levels to carry out future functional requirements of the organization.
  • Builds the foundation for the Gap-Closing Strategies step of the Workforce Planning process.
